Yes, it’s July. Becoming a new parent makes time feel like a joke. I can honestly say I can’t believe we are halfway through 2025. With some newly found freedom (knocks on wood), I would like to set a fun goal for myself.
Starting this month, I am committing to finally finish watching all the films on the American Film Institutes “100 Years… 100 Movies” list, the 2007 version.
For those who are unfamiliar, the AFI published a list of what they believe to be the best 100 American films ever made. The first list was released in 1998. There has been one update since then. In freshman year of college, I swore to myself that I would watch every single film on that 2007 updated list by the time I graduated.
And lo. I have come up short — by approximately 40 films actually. I’ve only seen 61 films, y’all, and it has been quite some time since I graduated…
But this loose end gets tied up this year. And The Boy is on board so that is going to be a big help, too!
No more excuses.
Would like to join me? Wherever you are on that list, consider making a commitment this month to finally finish it with me!
To help motivate me to cross that finish line, I made a badge. I plan on using it in every post that I publish whenever I write a movie reflection. I don’t think I will be able to write a reflection for all remaining 39 films but I will try!
If you are joining me and plan on writing about your film viewing experience as well, feel free to use this badge in your posts.
We got this!
