Dear crafty reader,
How is the first week of May going for you? Did you celebrate May Day? Or Beltane? How’s mercury in retrograde (in Taurus) treating you? What about that lunar eclipse (in Scorpio) yesterday, eh? Talk about letting it burn, letting it wait, and letting it go. All of these things require an intentional change, outwardly and/or inwardly, methinks. We’re halfway to the summer solstice so make all these changes count so that you can frolic, carefree in the vernal sun. Alright, that’s enough cosmic talk but I wanted to check in because I care about you.
One really fun thing that happened to me this week: I was asked to write a guest post on
! Check it out below and be sure to subscribe to ’s fun-filled, chill adventure of a newsletter.Stay golden,

How appropriate - fire noodle challenge anyone? Korean Englishman can make the mundane task of eating pot (or instant in the US) noodles seem like winning the World Cup. Will they or won’t they?! This is very similar content to Hot Ones with Sean Evans. Yes, more young people eating food on camera, i.e., an aging millennial’s kryptonite.
I took a deep dive into the archive of Home Movies with Alison Roman with Substack’s very own (you guessed it),
. Granted, Roman has been making video content with LA-sourced flair1 and that easy breezy girl-next-door vibe for a while - I'm just sad to show up so late in the game! Y'all, she's like that cool girl in high school who is ultra talented and super funny and wholly original. And then you find out she wants to tell you all of her secrets. Oh, and she cares. She cares about your time, how many mixing bowls you use, and troubleshooting kitchen hacks so that you don’t have to go out and buy another niche cooking utensil. How could I not fall in love with her? Looking for some new takes on classic recipes made simple, then you definitely have to check out her YouTube channel and newsletter,.
All Things Must Pass (1970) by George Harrison. A perfect album. This was a revisit, it had been a while since I listened to it in its entirety. Catchy hits, beautiful ballads, and a whole lotta humor. Harrison ran around all 4 bases a few times with his first solo album post-Beatles breakup.
Wasps Nests (1995) by The 6ths. At the encouragement of
, I had a listen and I am so glad I did! Thanks you guys for the recc and subsequent analysis on your podcast! If you like quirky 90's tunes with an almost mumblecore ambience, you need to have a listen!
- , a newsletter and podcast about current pop culture. I’m hooked after listening to their incredibly thoughtful and hilarious breakdown of the seminal tween film of the early 2000’s, The Lizzie McGuire Movie. Listening to a group of witty elder millennials dissect my childhood is everything I never knew I needed.
A variety of chickpea and lentil pasta dishes, made in a fit of hunger, topped with whatever was in the fridge. A sort of spring cleaning in its own right.
More little graphics to beautify this newsletter. How’s she looking? I wanted my posts to look like my scribblings in my journals.
Figuring out how I can be a helpful creative assistant to my very talented cousin, Sonia. More updates to come about her expanding spiritual business including where you’ll be able to find her and how to get an appointment on the books!
Currently (slowly) reading: Three Books of Occult Philosophy by Agrippa.
A podcast about death.
A podcast about aging millennials.
“Cordelia’s Bookclub” - We are currently reading and discussing Healing Developmental Trauma: How Early Trauma Affects Self-Regulation, Self-Image, and the Capacity for Relationship by Laurence Heller, Ph.D. and Aline LaPierre, Psy.D. We are about halfway through if you would still like to join us!

Love to see a transplant from the County of Los Angeles!
Especially with all the recently laid off journalists looking to re-establish themselves post-Buzzfeed and post-Gawker. https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2023/05/15/traffic-ben-smith-book-review
Not to mention, the creator of The Sample is a solid dude.
Your newsletter has officially made me very, very hungry! 😁
